This Firefox add-on will give you the latest observation and forecast data in a sidebar which can be toggled on and off from your Mozilla Firefox browser.

Download and install the gadget
- Click Download gadget below
- If you get a message "FireFox prevented this site from asking you to install software on this computer", click Edit Options on the right-hand side of the message bar. In the Allowed Sites panel select Allow and Close. Click Download gadget again.
- When you see the software installation screen, choose Install Now
- Click restart Firefox when prompted, the gadget will then be installed
- The Met Office logo will appear on the status bar in the bottom right-hand corner of Firefox and is a toggle for turning the sidebar on and off
- A message will be automatically displayed by Firefox when a new version is available
Customise the weather gadget
On the top bar of the gadget, click on the tools icon to select your preferences. There are 3 tabs to customise the appearance of your gadget. This preference window may require resizing in order for the "Set locations" button, and all available "My weather" locations, to become visible.
- You can select your preferred location for My weather
- You can select your preferred region for warnings and forecasts
- You can choose which elements to show and hide
Uninstall the weather gadget
- From the browser drop-down menu, select Tools and then Add-ons
- Select Met Office Sidebar from your list of installed Add-ons
- Select Uninstall
- Confirm in the dialogue box if you wish to uninstall
- The uninstall will take place when Firefox is restarted
