Autumn was fairly unusual it lacked spells of very wet and stormy that so often dominate the season. This was largely down to high pressure being centred over or close to the British Isles bringing prolonged dry and settled conditions. In contrast to the 2nd wettest summer on record across the UK as a whole, autumn 2007 was the seventh driest on record, with 231.1 mm of rainfall.The UK mean autumn temperature was 9.9 °C which is 0.8 °C above the 1971-2000 average and 11th warmest since UK-wide records began in 1914. Mean temperatures in October and November were 1.0 °C above the long term average.
